WHAT WE'VE DONE
Shipment - In 2006, ABC
shipped large quantities of school supplies,
books, Christian books, toys, and other items
for distribution to the schools. Two members of
the ABC committee traveled to Ghana in November
to make the presentation to the beneficiaries
and to organize a workshop for the teachers.
What WE'RE Doing
Books, School
Supplies and General Items - large
quantities of school supplies, books, used
clothes, toys and used PCs have been donated to
ABC for delivery to the schools.
Shipment - The items will be
shipped to Ghana, before the summer, subject to enough
funds being raised to cover shipping and
associated charges. Shipping and port taxes is
estimated to be $1,000.00.
Restrooms - As part of a
capital improvement project, ABC plans to
construct modern restrooms for some 250
pre-school and kindergarten kids, their
teachers, and staff. Since inception, the
students and staff have been using an outhouse
that is neither sanitary nor ideal, to say the
least. Cost estimate for this project is over
$6,500.00. To date, a special donation of
$1,000.00 has been made. ABC is appealing to
well-wishers for financial support to complete
the project by June 30th.
WHAT'S STILL NEEDED
Playground
- The 3.5 year old kids at the
pre-school and kindergarten currently use a
small playground that is equipped with a few
crude and unsafe pieces of equipment. ABC plans
to renovate the playground and install new
modern and safe pieces of equipment. Monetary
and equipment donations are welcomed.
Media Center - To stimulate the
kids interest in a wide variety of
topics/subjects and enhance teaching and
learning at the pre-school level, ABC plans to
open a media center for the school. The center
will be equipped with TVs, CD Players, Videotape
Players, Audio-Cassette Players, etc.
Library - None of the schools
in the village have a library and there is no
pubic library within a 40 mile radius. ABC plans
to open a public library in the village by 2009.
Your generous donations of library books and
used computers will be greatly appreciated.
